Strikeforce Inks Broadcast Deals in 8 Asian Territories

Strikeforce has secured additional broadcast distribution in eight Asian markets through a deal with Lionsgate subsidiary Tiger Gate International, the promotion’s distributor, Shine International, announced on Friday.

Strikeforce events will broadcast on Tiger Gate’s KIX action channel in Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and India, said a press release. The deal also includes pay-per-view broadcasts. No further details on the deal were given.

"Strikeforce is completely on-brand with our programming vision for KIX. The timing of the deal is also fortuitous, as the demand for this specific genre continues to escalate. Given the focus KIX will bring to the world of MMA, we anticipate the Strikeforce brand exploding throughout the Asian territories," said Paul Presburger, Head of Business Affairs of Tiger Gate, in the release.

The San Jose, Calif.-based promotion had previously announced live and taped broadcast deals in February to Virgin Media Television's Bravo in the UK, Turner in Latin America, FX in Portugal, Ukraine's Megasport, Seven Network Australia and Dahlia TV in Italy.

According to the release, Strikeforce content is now available to viewers in 14 countries.

Shine International, a distribution arm of the Shine Group, represents TV programming like “The Biggest Loser” in over 150 countries. Shine also produces its own programming through its creative properties, which includes Reveille and others. Reveille produces “The Office,” “Ugly Betty,” and “The Tudors,” which airs on Showtime.
