NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans busted for speeding 100 mph

Perhaps the roar of the Memorial Day weekend's big racing events was contagious for NBA Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans. The Sacramento Kings guard was briefly detained for reckless driving last night after California Highway Patrol officers said they clocked Evans at more than 100 mph.

Evans, no stranger to tense moments on the court, also got to find out what it's like to look into a gun barrel. Because the windows of Evans' Mercedes-Benz S550 were tinted black and officers couldn't see inside that approached with guns drawn, according to the CHP.

The Sacramento Bee reports Evans, 20, was cited for reckless driving and his handcuffs were removed quickly once officers determined there was no threat.

The CHP said Evans wasn't under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and Kings basketball president Geoff Petrie told the Bee he and Evans were scheduled to talk today.
